Joey and The Jivers
Feb 10 @ 8:00 pm – Feb 11 @ 1:00 am

Joey and The Jivers

First time to Jive Party but no strangers to the rock n roll scene, Joey and the Jivers have distinguished music careers behind them and pride themselves on delivering a dynamic set of songs from the 50’s and 60’s with all the authentic sounds, feels and emotions from the heyday of rock an roll.

Band-leader Joey has a fine trained voice and loves to belt out out all the hits while at the same time his fingers fly over the keyboard of his piano. Joey is supported by Sean on lead guitar, Steve on bass and Joe ‘the sticks’ on drums.

Joey and The Jivers come highly recommended by experienced dancers and we’re sure they will keep the Rivoli jumping and the floor packed.

Our February Jive Party is a week earlier than you might expect – don’t miss it! As usual it will feature a beginners’ jive class and DJs to kick off the evening, followed by two sets from the band.

Kai Hoffman and her Kombo
Mar 17 @ 8:00 pm – Mar 18 @ 1:00 am

Boston, Massachusetts-born , Kai Hoffman is a versatile, vivacious performer inspired by the sounds of the 1950s whose music possesses, in the words of one critic, “an insatiable joie-de-vivre rare in these cynical times” (Stephen Graham, Marlbank).

With three previous LPs under her belt, she recently released her second solo album, Luckiest Girl Alive – a mixture of rhythm and blues and rock ‘n’ roll, with a dose of ’50s New Orleans thrown in.

Having toured and recorded with Ray Gelato and the Giants and sung with the fantastic rhythm and blues aces Blue Harlem, Kai is fast gaining a reputation as an electric live act, now backed by her Kombo, all seasoned musicians in the jazz, jive and rythmn n blues styles.  Not only and extremely talented vocalist, Kai is also a keen lindy hopper, and has performed for dancers at Twinwood Festival, the Southbank Centre, Greenwich Dance, the 100 Club, and Hepcats Holiday (with Ray Gelato), as well as many other well-known UK venues and events.  She has also been gaining steady international acclaim, with two recent shows at the Metropolitan Room in New York City – the #1 jazz and cabaret room in New York – and performances at the Blue Note Milano, the Rome Rockabilly Festival, Vintage in Porto in Genoa, and the European Jazz Expo.

Her long overdue return to The Rivoli Ballroom on March 17th is an event that lovers of 40’s and 50’s music will not want to miss. Jive DJs, a beginner’s jive class, 2 licenced bars and the amazing interior of the Rivoli add to the enjoyment of the night.

Miss Annie & The Midnight Shift
Apr 21 @ 8:00 pm – Apr 22 @ 1:00 am

Fronted by vocalist Miss Annie, The Midnight Shift are a Bournemouth-based 1950’s-style 7-piece roots rhythm & Blues band. It’s a welcome return to Jive Party after their first gig for us in July 2017 and we can’t wait to hear and see them back on the Rivoli stage.

The band features tenor and baritone saxes, guitar, piano, double bass and drums – plus highly stylish Miss Annie whose incredible voice is like Ruth Brown, Etta James, Irma Thomas, Lavern Baker and Annie Laurie rolled into one!

The combination of Miss Annie’s belting voice, the wailing horns and the thumping rhythm section gives this band an authentic sound of explosive 1950s Rhythm & Blues!!! Not a night to be missed if you love your jive and original roots R&B.

Jive DJs, a beginner’s jive class, 2 licenced bars and the amazing interior of the Rivoli add to the enjoyment of the night.

The Revolutionaires
May 19 @ 8:00 pm – May 20 @ 1:00 am

Sizzlin’ Hot 1950’s R&B Combo

Established within the ‘hotbed’ of the North East music scene in the UK, the Revolutionaires power out jumpin’ hot rhythm & blues in their own indomitable hard hitting style.

Think Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Roy Brown. Then mix in some harder and more aggressive influences from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duke Robillard, Jools Holland and Mike Henderson – now you’re getting close to the sound.

Over the last decade The Revolutionaires have established themselves on the UK and European Rockin’ circuit, as well as the Blues scene. They have toured extensively both home and abroad, performing at festivals alongside artistes such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Sting, Tom Jones, Hugh Laurie, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Walter Trout, Eric Bibb, Albert Lee, Snake Davis and Dave Edmunds.

The band has recorded five CDs to date, containing a collection of Hot Rockin’ R&B tracks. Each CD captures the ‘rawness’ and sheer energy of the band, who like to give their performances a ‘hard-edged’ vibe!

So ‘get yourself down’ to the Rivoli on June 16th, ’cause, in the words of the Ronnie Molleen tune…

….” We’ll be rockin’ up a storm tonight! “

Jive DJs, a beginner’s jive class, 2 licenced bars and the amazing interior of the Rivoli add to the enjoyment of the night.
